Privacy Policy

BorrowBuddy ("LoanedOut" / "WerHatMeinZeug") is a personal loan tracking app. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.

1. Data Storage

All your data (loans, contacts, notes) is stored locally on your device using an SQLite database. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal data.

2. Camera Permission

The app requests camera access for two purposes:

• Condition photos: You can take photos of items you lend or borrow to document their condition.
• QR code scanning: You can scan QR codes to quickly share loan details.

Photos are stored locally on your device. If you choose to use the backup feature (Google Drive or iCloud), photos may be included in your backup and stored in your personal cloud storage. They are never uploaded to our servers.

3. Contacts Permission

The app may request access to your device contacts to make it easier to select a person when creating a loan. Contact data is only read locally and is never transmitted externally.

4. Google Drive Backup (Optional)

You may choose to back up your data to your personal Google Drive account. This feature requires you to sign in with your Google account. Backups are stored in your private app-specific folder on Google Drive, which only you and this app can access. We do not have access to your Google Drive or your backup files.

5. iCloud Backup (Optional, iOS only)

On iOS devices, you may choose to back up your data to iCloud. Data is stored in an app-specific iCloud container linked to your Apple ID. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

6. In-App Purchases

The app offers optional in-app purchases (Premium subscription or one-time purchase). Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.

7. Analytics

The app uses Firebase Analytics (Google) for anonymous usage analytics. No personal data is collected — only aggregated, anonymized usage data (e.g., how often certain features are used). You can limit analytics through your device's privacy settings.

8. Notifications

The app may send local notifications to remind you about upcoming or overdue loans. These notifications are generated entirely on your device.

9. No Data Sharing

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with third parties.

10. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
